After a hard-fought loss to Southside last week, Mann dropped to 0-2 after a 31-0 loss at home against Mauldin on Friday night.
Mann’s defense simply couldn’t hold up against a powerful Mauldin offensive attack. The Mavericks jumped out to an early 10-0 before George Ford found the end zone on a 6-yard rushing touchdown to stretch the lead to 17-0 at halftime.
After the half, Mauldin continued to light up the Patriots defense. The Mavericks scored on 4-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, and added a 19-yard touchdown pass from Ford to Randy Caldwell for their final score in the fourth quarter.
Mauldin’s defensive line caused trouble for the Patriots all night, disrupting their offensive rhythm and heavily contributing to the shutout. Mann will look to get back on track next Friday when they travel to face Greenville High at Sirrine Stadium.
