The Johnsonville Flashes take on the Andrews Yellow Jackets this Friday night in a region game at Andrews. Each team coming is off a devastating region loss with Johnsonville losing a nail-biter against rivals Hannah-Pamplico 42-34.
Andrews is trying to recover from an upsetting game against East Clarendon. They were a heavy favorite in that game as people from the region thought they would be the team to beat this season.
The Flashes would like to forget their game against Hannah-Pamplico. Johnsonville was up by two touchdowns twice in the game but couldn’t keep the lead either time. The Flashes believe they beat themselves that game with penalties bad decision making.
Johnsonville will be without five starters this week, due to suspensions for the off-the-field issues. Additionally, their starting running back/ cornerback, and leading rusher La’sean White suffered a knee injury that will keep him out for a few weeks.
The suspensions and injury means that there will be a lot of inexperience on the field Friday. “I would like to see our young guys step up and pull together rather than worry about who is not here.” said starting junior middle linebacker Willie Carter. “I would also like to see the team’s attitude improve this game”
Andrews is 2-1 this season and 0-1 in region which is not where they want to be knowing they were the favorites to win the region. The Yellow Jackets have a ground-and-pound offense with an occasional deep pass which will be tricky for the Flashes defensive backs not to get so focused on the run and then get beat deep.
The Flashes hope the inexperience does not catch up to them this week and they can stay healthy for next weeks game against Latta.
