Last year, Greer went on the road to beat Greenville 28-20. This Friday, the teams will meet up at Dooley Field in Greer for their Region II-4A opener. The good news for the Yellow Jackets is that they had their entire bye week to prepare, the bad news is that they’re facing an extremely talented Greenville team.
Despite a disappointing start to the season, the Yellow Jackets’ morale has been improved of late. Brody Young, a senior center, was asked how he was feeling going into the game, “I feel pretty good about the game. I feel like we have gotten better.” This seems to be the feeling around the Hive; the players are buzzing with anticipation and have gained confidence over their bye week.
The team has been working hard to improve during practice. When asked what steps the team has taken to improve, Erie Williams, wide receiver coach, responded “We worked on learning new things with our young guys that, hopefully, will help us get wins.”
Of course, the Jackets; goal is to win on Friday, but they also want to play better than their last game, a disappointing 28-14 loss to Mauldin. Greer enters the game just 1-4 on the season, while Greenville comes in at 3-2.
