This Friday at Memorial Stadium, Dreher faces off against Sumter County opponent, Crestwood High School in a matchup that may very well determine if either of these teams compete in the postseason.
This will be a Region 4-IV contest between two teams desperate for a victory. Although this has been a rocky season for Dreher, they believe their key to success this weekend is consistency.
“Just being more consistent. Offensively not being so ‘good play, bad play’ we have some really good plays and then we have a penalty, or we do something that we’re not supposed to do and that’s and experience issue.” notes Dreher head coach, Treigh Sullivan.
Crestwood enters Friday’s contest with a 2-4 overall record and 0-2 in region play. The Blue Devils in at 1-5 overall with an identical 0-2 region record. Both teams enter the contest with similar team offensive and defensive scoring statistics. Dreher has averaged scoring just over 13 points per game while giving up 48 points per game. Conversely, Crestwood averages scoring 16 points per game and gives up 34 points per game.
Coach Sullivan feels that the team “Matches up well against Crestwood”. Given the two teams seasons so far, this will be an opportunity for the Blue Devils to get that first conference win and set the stage for greater things down the stretch.
