The JL Mann Patriots will host the Wade Hampton Generals for their last home game of the season. The Patriots are looking to pull off their first win of the season against the winless Generals.
The Patriots are coming off of a 42-14 loss to the Laurens Raiders. As for the Generals, they lost their eighth straight game to the TL Hanna Yellow Jackets.
Coach Burnette expressed a sense of urgency for his winless team. “After the last game, the JL Mann football team will never be constructed in exactly the same way as it is right now.” He mentioned, “For the older guys, they have eight quarters left. They need to make the most of them.”
Going into this game, he explained, “The best player wins. Whether that’s a senior, junior, sophomore, or even a freshman.”
In previous weeks Coach Burnette explained how he wants to make sure the team is being fundamentally sound and making sure his guy knows what they’re assigned to do. He explained
“We try to work on situational football.” He elaborated, explaining that he has his guys working on third down conversions and specific red zone situations. “As coaches we try to do a really good job of scouting our opponent and knowing them really well.”
Friday’s meeting marks JL Mann’s last home game of their season. The Patriots are looking to latch on to their first win against the 0-8 Generals.
